Technical Tours
The theme of the 2024 conference, which was developed in partnership with key universities, government departments (COGTA, Department Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, SACPLAN, SAACPP, SALGA and SA Cities Network representatives, is: “Sustainable futures: From theory to practice”.
The 2023 SDG Summit was convened on 18-19 September 2023 and marks the mid-point of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda… This is a good time to reflect on how we as an African continent have delivered on the sustainable urban futures.
The tours will focus on 3 very different sustainable urban and planning projects, having varying contexts, but each having a common theme – which is creating sustainable futures.
Tour Itinerary:
The tours will take place on Sunday 18th August 2024 from 10:00 am and are expected to take no longer than four hours.
Tour registration will open at 9.00 and will take place in the foyer area of the Elangeni Hotel on the ground level. The tour bus departs from the Hotel at 10.00 sharp.

- Seats on the tour are limited and will be booked on first come first serve basis.
- To book your seat, please make a selection below and make payment.
- The cost of the tour is R R650 (excl. vat) per person and includes refreshments and a snack lunch. A pre-paid parking voucher for parking at the Elangeni Hotel also included.
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and clothing that is ideal for the weather.
- Given that’s its Durban’s raining season, an umbrella or jacket would also be a god idea.
- Water and a small snack and project folder will be provided.
